Sprite Managing Director (SMD) is a DLL to asssist
games programmers to rapidly produce sprite animation in their programs.
But it is not just for games, it could be used for building an animated business
presentation or just giving some life to an otherwise dull window. The DLL will
work with any programming language that allows calls to a 3rd party dll - but
currently - all samples are written in Liberty BASIC.
NOTE: The dll is 16 bit but does not work on
Windows3.1 - It requires Win 3.11 and above. Works fine on Win95 and
Win98.
Features
available:
Background images - animated and stationary
Background images may be 'TILED" and animated
Animated sprites - movement plus cycled images
All images used by the program may be stored in a single
file
Floating popup menus
'Text' sprites (normal and Flashing)
MessageBoxes
Automatic Collision detection
Automatic Bounds checking
Mouse and keyboard detection
Joystick detection
Play Wav sounds
A BASIC type language subset for handling
events
Game Window creation - with or without
TitleBar
Uses MMSystem.dll for high resolution timing
plus much more.
Sprite MD is shareware (US$30.00 for a registered version that may be
distributed with your commercial programs). The unregistered version has a
small registration reminder screen that pops up after the program closes the
animation window, but is 100% functional, without any timebombs, crippleware,
etc.
